Outlook integration

Dekko can be used with Microsoft Outlook (and any other mail client supporting IMAP). All Dekko messages sent via Outlook will enjoy the same end-to-end encryption and security provided by circles.

You will need to install the Outlook plug-in using this link.

For IT professionals

To use Dekko with Outlook, create a new mail account and set up an IMAP account using localhost as incoming and outgoing server, and providing the email address and the password of the Dekko account. You will need to set SMTP authentication with the same user name and password.

For the rest of us

Download the Outlook plug-in from here. Then install it by starting the setup file, and following the steps by “Next”, “Next”, “Finish”.

Now, your plug-in is installed and you need to set up a new Outlook account that will work with Dekko and will send your messages securely. Here are the steps:

  1. Click on File, then “Add account”. You will see the “Add Account” window like one below. Choose “Manual setup or additional server types” (as on the image):

  2. Press “Next”, and choose “POP or IMAP” option:

  3. Press “Next”. You will see the following screen, in which you need to provide your name and email address. Then, choose “IMAP” from the “Account type” field, and enter “localhost” both as “Incoming mail server” and “Outgoing mail server (SMTP)”. At the “Logon information” enter your full email address as the user name, and the password in the next field:

  4. Then, press “More settings” (not “Next”!), choose the “Outgoing server” tab, and tick “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”. Make sure that the first option “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” (as on the image below):

  5. Now press “OK”, and then “Next”. Your Outlook will send a test message to verify the user name and password. If you see a password prompt window (like below), please double-check your email address and the password:

  6. If your account details are set correctly, you will see a window with 2 green ticks:

  7. Click “Close”. Outlook will happily say that it is ready to send and receive secure Dekko messages:

  8. Depending on the amount of messages in your Dekko inbox and your internet speed, Outlook will download all the messages in a minute or so. You might need to press the “Send/receive” button (or F9 button on the keyboard) to get all the latest Dekko messages into Outlook.
